Three PDAs, Two MP3 Players, One Laptop And Still Technologically Challenged! |
Sunday, February 04, 2007 |
This una technology tire me sef. Early last week, as I was strolling to my office, I saw an array of stuff (pens, candy, notepads etc) on display by the secretary's desk from one pharma company. Well, I took a pen, turns out to be a 3-in-1 stylus pen. It has a stylus, laser point and yes it is also a pen! As I headed to my zone, I just thought about all the stylus pens I have sitting in my house. That led into even deeper thinking, the 3 PDAs in my house. Good googly moggly!!!
How on earth? Well, I'll tell you the story in a minute. It all started in my last yr of pharm school when I realized I just had to have a PDA! It was ABSOLUTELY important to my education. I mean, there was no way I was going to be part of a multi-disciplinary rounding team without having a PDA equipped with drug information capabilities. So I got a PDA ... need less to say (does anybody still use those words?) I never got to shine with it because I was rarely prepared. By the time, I had popped out my PDA to look for "conivaptan", the attending physician had long moved on to another patient. Oy vey!
That was the first one. I got another PDA from the department because I was a resident, this PDA could not even be synced to our computers in the office. How does that happen? We called the IS (information systems) people tire, after that, we all stopped messing with that thing and started using our own PDAs.
The third and final PDA came with my office. This year, we had 1 too many residents so I got my own office space since we had an empty office. Well, this office had belonged to a manager so it came with a few trimmings like leather chair (which somebody stole) and the works.
The MP3 players are a story for another day and I swear my laptop has some extra features ... if only I knew what they were!
So as for the stylus pen, I used it to buy a few favors. Hopefully, I will not have a lot of problems when I'm the administrator on call because my A-team will come to the rescue. As a matter of fact, I went home and brought out my stash of pens and other goodies accumulated from different conferences and I gave them out to the A-team.
Now don't worry, I know they are nice small gifts for naija but I have another conference coming up in May so that where I will accumulate my stash for my trip to Naija before the end of the year. Thats why I can give away this stash
As for we get up to at these conferences in the name of getting their freebies ... you don't want to even know
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! |

About Me |
Name: lala
Home: Memphis, Tennessee, United States
About Me: I'm an introvert. I love challenges and the "path less taken". I have discovered that life more of a journey than a destination so I try to enjoy each day. And if you've never failed at anything then you haven't tried anything outside your comfort zone. Right now, I have a love/hate relationship with Memphis. I love the city because the people are very friendly but careerwise, this place will be a dead end for me.
